Thirty Day Challenge Day 1

by musignr on August 8, 2008

So this is it. It’s been a year since the last Thirty Day Challenge. This is where I started a year ago by doing what Ed and the crew said to do (and becoming obsessed with it) I am now a full-time internet markter.

Today’s lesson is a good warm up and covers the basics. Ed explains that his methodology on marketing is the opposite of traditional thinking.

Old Thinking

  • Make a Product
  • Figure out a way to market it

New Thinking

  • Do market research and find a group of people
  • See if you can get them to visit your site
  • Convert the traffic with affiliate products
  • Create a product

Doing things this way helps make sure you don’t create a product that no one cares about or will pay for.

That’s Day 1. Click here to view the lessons.

Thirty Day Challenge Day 8

by musignr on August 8, 2008

I’m a bit behind on posting here (ok i’m WAY behind in posting here but I have good excuses considering the move from Oklahoma to Los Angeles and the fact that I can’t get wifi working at home yet… even after spending almost $4000 on a new Macbook Pro and countless USB wireless adapters.

That being said we are at Day 8 and things are going nuts. A few days ago they introduced a service called Wordpress Direct that is a one-click Wordpress install application that bundles all sorts of WP SEO plugins into your install and makes it easy for newbs to get up and running.

I had massive trouble with WP Direct initially because they didn’t support my host Dreamhost. I since switched to HostGator and am now up and running and I’m all the way caught up on things.

  1. My blog has been created.
  2. The first article is live
  3. It’s been bookmarked at Social Marker using the 5 sites Ed recommended

Ed Dale is raising all sorts of hype over at the 30DC and on Twitter about the site being indexed in 3 hours saying “This is not possible!!” Um… what? This has always been possible bro. ;)

It’s great to watch the newbs get all fired up, not knowing that this is possible with 100% of the sites you’ll ever launch. I can normally create a site from scratch, add a backlink from Yahoo Answers and it’s indexed in a matter of hours, sometimes minutes, depending on how long it takes Google to find the link.

But this will serve to get the newbies all excited and freaking out the way I was last year, so good for them. Ahhh the joys of being clueless.
